If you're one of the many who've been eagerly awaiting the release of Amazing Grace: Jeff Buckley, the documentary screened occasionally at movie festivals around the world since 2004(?), then you're in luck.

A couple of weeks before they finally announced that it will get a release, though they haven't put a date on it, I recieved a copy of the original promo. This I have now shared on t'internet.

Download it here!

Jeff Buckley - Houston 1994

jeff buckley, live, houston, urban art bar, audience, 1994

Jeff Buckley, live at the Urban Art Bar, Houston, 1st December 1994

Jeff and band played the Urban Art Bar twice within a year, and both of those with a) very good, and b) taped by audience member Chris Malazzo, though sadly the second had issues with the tape rendering the end of the set, in what's known in the technical terms as fucked. This is the first of those shows.

George Clinton and the P-Funk Allstars, live at the Woodstock 99 festival, 23rd July 1999

The biggest man in funk rock (after Prince), with the biggest hair (after no-one), performing some of his greatest blissed-out hits. To have the likes of both the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Snoop Doggy Dogg and chums as huge fans, surely the guy must've been doing something right. If you've never heard his brand of jamming funk, then you're in for a treat. Enjoy!

R.E.M. - Outtakes Of Time 1990

REM, out of time, outtakes of time, outtakes, studio, 1990

R.E.M., Outtakes Of Time, studio demo outtakes from the Out Of Time sessions

Another post that should be fairly self explanatory, the outtakes from the Scott Litt recorded Out Of Time sessions, although these were demo sessions rather than the actual final recording sessions. The album itself was the first huge hit from the Athens band, hitting the heady heights of No.1 in both the U.S. and U.K., and features the excellent KRS-One on the opening track to boot :) (not that he's on the bootleg sadly).

Nick Cave And The Badseeds, The Boatman's Call outtakes

Not sure what I can say about this today, it's all pretty much in the headline...one thing I will say, there were the Japanese B-sides and other such stuff added on to the bootleg, not something I agree with really, and as such I haven't posted them. Of course a few of these made it onto the b-sides and rarities album, but to remove those would take away from the session outtakes. Stroll on eh?
Anyway, enjoy!

Blind Melon - Soup Demos 1994

raw soup, soup album demos, blind melon, studio, outtakes, 1994

Blind Melon, Raw Soup, the Soup album demos, King Studios L.A.

Blind Melon recieved great publicity from Shannon Hoon's friendship with Axl Rose, and his backing vocal performances on the Use Your Illusion albums. Their self-titled debut album, and notably the hit single No Rain were very well recieved, the album as a whole an excellent funky rocker.

In 1994 they teamed up with producer Andy Wallace (yes, some of you will know who he is) to work on their second album Soup, this bootleg being the basis of it, as most of these tracks are simply unpolished versions of the final tracks. Sadly the following year Shannon died of an OD. He's much missed, but the band are back doing their thing after 12 years (they recorded one more after he died), having recently released their fourth album For My Friends.

Antony and the Johnsons, live with the Oregon Orchestra, Arlene Schnitzer Hall Portland, 5th September 2008

Although Antony and band had previously played with an orchestra, this was the first night of a tour, all be it a short one, featuring orchestras as an integral part of the show. The shows feature(d) different orchestras depending upon location (Milan Orchestra in Italy and Spain, London Philharmonic in the UK), but they were always led by conductor James Holmes.

Jethro Tull - Oakland 1973

jethro tull, oakland coliseum, live, soundboard, 1973

Jethro Tull, live at the Oakland Coliseum, 23rd July 1973

Jethro Tull (named after an 18th cebtury agriculturist), probably most famous for frontman Ian Anderson's (much sampled) flute, and his flamingo impressions...he stood on one leg alot. I was introduced to this band by my father, who has a great love for them, and played their albums Thick As A Brick and Aqualung a hell of alot simply due to the fact that the songs were great with a good element of humour, always something good in my books, when done well of course.

Velvet Underground and Nico - Norman Dolph Acetate 1966

the velvet underground, the velvet underground and nico, unripened, norman dolph acetate, studio, demo

The Velvet Underground and Nico, Unripened - The Norman Dolph Acetate, Scepter Studios NYC, 25th April 1966

This is a copy of the original studio demos for the VU&N album in '67, cut to acetate shortly after recording. Sadly, There She Goes Again, also recorded during the Dolph sessions, wasn't placed on it, but alot of these recordings were remixed for the final released album.

A Mr. Hill of Montreal found a copy in a Chelsea (NYC) flea market in 2002 and paid a handsome sum of 75c, only to sell it a few years later for a much more handsome sum of $25,000 plus change. I think the phrase rhymes with 'clucky dastard', to paraphrase Captain Blackadder.
