The Clash, live at Bonds International Casino, New York, 13th June 1981

The Clash booked a series of shows at Bonds in '81, only to find that the venue was smaller than thought and hopelessly over sold. So they arranged another set of dates to let all those wishing to see them do so safely. The 9th of June show is widely circulated, so I thought this would be a nice gig to publish today, one fof those bonus shows. Enjoy!

A sweet set from the boys from London, though not sure how much Bo plays on this, if at all. Going by the poster for it it could be support or as a guest. Recorded as they were finishing recording London Calling, they include quite a few tracks from that album here, including one much covered song, named here Jimmy Jazz, called Stagger Lee, an old blues standard, my favourite version being by Nick and his Bad Seeds, though it's not for the faint hearted!

London Calling, if it's not in your top ten albums of the eighties, okay I'll give you twenty, then gtfo! I know my LP of this is pretty early, and good 'ole Wiki has just confirmed it for me, as it doesn't include Train In Vain on the cover. Do you think I can be arsed to see if it's a first run though? No, plus there's probably loads of them out there making it worth about £5.75 anyway.

An unrelated random bit of music trivia, kinda: Yesterday I shared a train carriage with Eggsy of Goldie Lookin' Chain. Aren't I special...Nope.
