Another show from the fantastic Violent Femmes for you, this time in support of their second album Hallowed Ground, a good early show. It's rather surprising due to the maturity of some of the songs that Gordon Gano, the lead singer, wrote alot of the songs at this time while still in school, plus in the late '80's he formed a gospel group being the devout lad he is. A couple of FM radio broadcasts from Guthrie, Frazer and Raymonde for you today. The first performed at Nightmoves in sunny Scotland, the second at the Rats Club in Norways capital.

My Buckleyite followers should know the connection, for those who don't, Liz Frazer was Jeffs lover for a short while, they dueted on All Flowers In Time, but never released it (though it is floating about, ask if you'd like it), and the Twins also covered Tim Buckleys Song To The Siren for the This Mortal Coil project, dreamed up by 4AD boss Ivo-Watts Russell, where bands on the label all contributed and collaborated on several albums, with Cocteau Twins as the axis.

R.E.M. - We Are Having A Heavenly Time bootleg, Live at the Page Auditorium, September 26 1984

An excellent early set from the Athens band, but though this concert is soundboard sourced, it is sadly a tad out on the timing front, very noticably so at one point. Other than that this is a fine bootleg. As with the early albums Stipe's a little low in the mix on some tracks, but as it's the same on the releases it's no biggie. Including such classics as Rockville, So. Central Rain, Radio Free Europe and Driver 8 this is a must have for fans.
